Senior Group Tax Manager

Are you an experienced VAT professional seeking a pivotal role in industry? With a fleet exceeding 170,000 vehicles, we proudly stand as the largest independent vehicle solutions provider, and we are in search of a Senior VAT Manager to join our team.

In this position, reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be the SME for all VAT-related matters, ensuring adherence to reporting obligations. You will act as a trusted advisor, providing specialised expertise on complex VAT challenges. The role requires collaboration with senior stakeholders, external advisors, and HMRC, presenting opportunities to design and implement VAT strategies that align with the Group's objectives. In addition, you will have the chance to promote VAT awareness and knowledge throughout our business.

The ideal candidate will be an analytical and detail-oriented professional with a passion for resolving intricate tax-related issues.

WHATS THE ROLE?

  • Own and lead the VAT compliance framework across the Group, ensuring accurate and timely VAT reporting.
  • Act as the SME for VAT matters, providing strategic and technical advice to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and implement VAT strategies aligned with the Group's objectives, optimizing VAT efficiency across the business.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile VAT tax journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify and evaluate VAT-related issues, efficiencies, and opportunities.
  • Promote VAT awareness and knowledge across the business.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of tax policies and procedures.

 

WHAT CAN YOU OFFER?

You will be a confident VAT professional with a proven track record of delivering results in complex environments. You will have strong leadership skills, the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams, and a passion for driving continuous improvement.

  • Qualified tax accountant (e.g., ACA, CTA) with 5+ years' experience in VAT, ideally with practice experience, including within Financial Services.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined Finance function in a medium-sized or large organisation.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and reporting skills, with excellent IT capabilities (including advanced Excel skills).
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines in a financial reporting environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and coach others.
  • Highly numerate, intellectually strong, and capable of interpreting complex technical information.
