Mobile Technician Manager (South)

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a strong people leader with a background in fleet, commercial vehicle, engineering or field service operations to help lead our Mobile Service Unit operation and drive outstanding performance across a highly skilled field-based team.

What You'll Be Doing

As Mobile Technician Manager (South), you'll be responsible for the overall operational performance of our Southern mobile service network, ensuring our technicians are safely delivering exceptional service to customers while operating efficiently and productively.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of Mobile Service Technicians across the Southern region.
• Creating a high-performance culture focused on safety, customer service, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensuring effective resource planning, technician utilisation and operational coverage to meet customer requirements.
• Driving productivity, first-time fix rates and overall service performance through KPI management and data-driven decision making.
• Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to provide solutions, manage escalations and maintain exceptional service levels.
• Managing operational costs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Supporting recruitment, succession planning and talent development across the team.
• Championing health, safety and compliance standards, ensuring all operational activities meet legislative and company requirements.
• Leading and supporting business improvement initiatives and change programmes across the network.

What We're Looking For

Strategic Leadership

You'll bring the ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on operationally, helping shape the future direction of the mobile service network and driving positive change across the business.

Industry Knowledge

A strong understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance, fleet operations, workshop or field service environments is essential. Knowledge of vehicle compliance and engineering operations would be highly advantageous.

People Management

You'll be an inspiring leader who can motivate remote teams, build trust quickly and create an environment where colleagues can perform at their best.

Commercial Awareness

You'll understand how operational performance impacts business success and be confident making decisions that balance customer satisfaction, efficiency and profitability.

Operational Excellence

You'll be highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities and capable of delivering results in a busy and fast-moving environment.

Data & Performance Management

You'll be confident analysing operational data, identifying trends and translating insight into practical actions that improve performance.

Skills & Experience

• Proven leadership experience within fleet, automotive, commercial vehicle, engineering or field service operations.
• Experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong people management, coaching and performance management skills.
• Experience driving operational improvement through KPI analysis and performance management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and customer relationship skills.
• Sound understanding of health and safety and compliance requirements.
• Strong organisational and planning capabilities.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout the Southern region.
